2011 Fall Leadership Development Conference

The 37th Annual Fall Leadership Development Conference was held November 11-12, 2011 in Greensboro, NC. A record number of 215 attendees represented 28 chapters along with 10 professional division members. NCPBL proved it is truly the Gateway to Greatness by providing 15 different workshops, regional meetings, two general sessions and five leadership tracks as learning opportunities.

Friday's Leadership Tracks covered Financial Responsibility, the Philosophy of Entrepreneurship, Career Development, The Power of Communication, and a special track for advisers and professional division members. The Foundation's Adopt-A-Student campaign reduced the registration fee for preregistered attendees. The largest delegation at the conference was North Carolina Central University with 25 delegates.

There were 11 recruitment displays proudly using the Gateway to Greatness theme and 1st place for the President's Award went to Vance-Granville Community College. The Non-Trivia Competition, always a crowd favorite, was won by North Carolina Central University. The Largest State Chapter Membership Award by the reporting deadline was a tie with Stanly Community College and North Carolina Central University and the Largest State Professional Division Award reporting by the deadline was North Carolina Central University.

The Foundation awarded scholarships at the FLDC to three recipients: Lisa Carr, Durham Technical Community College; April Martin, Stanly Community College; and Laura Davis, Randolph Community College. The Pin Design Contest was won by Paige Trogdon of Randolph Community College.

Schools showed their colors at the popular dance on Friday night. The FLDC is the training conference that provides chapters with the information necessary to develop into successful chapters for the 2011-2012 year. From workshops to motivational sessions to networking, the 2011 FLDC celebrated leadership as an important step in chapters' Gateway to Greatness.
