10.09.17 State Adviser Update

Advisers and Presidents,

2017 October Regional Committee Email
2017 NCPBL Regional Committee How-To Guide
2017 NCPBL Regional Committees

The above attachments relate to the "Hangouts" the state officers talked about at the Kick-Offs.  Each chapter is invited to have its chapter president or a designated representative participate.  Your rep does need to pre-register to participate.  There can be eight participants at each of the three "Hangouts" so they're on a first-come/first-serve arrangement.  Even though there is one per region, you may participate in whichever one fits your schedule best.

Western Region with Angela & Amy - Monday, Oct. 16, 8 p.m.

Central Region with Joshua & Katrina - Tuesday, Oct. 17, 6:30 p.m.

Eastern Region with Luis and Luke - Wednesday, Oct. 18, 8 p.m.

Even though arrangements were just finalized, the officers want to do them as quickly as possible so they could promote and answer questions on activities related to FLDC, the Oct. 20 membership deadline, etc.  Therefore, we apologize for short notice, but once we get this first "Hangout" done, we'll get more notice to you.

Hopefully all chapters are planning to attend fall conference Nov. 3-4.  Don't forget the various deadlines, especially Oct. 20 for hotel reservations.  Be sure to identify yourself with NC PBL.  The conference room rate is $99 plus tax.  We need to use our room block so don't have to pay for meeting space.

For the social activity Friday evening, the state officers are planning a Mardi Gras party.  (1)  All delegates (That includes us, too, advisers!) are invited to bring a mask, and there will be a prize for the most creative one.  The officers are doing a photo booth to do pictures of delegates in their masks.

(2)  Also, each chapter is asked to decorate one of the round tables in the social activity room in a Mardi Gras theme.  We're talking green/gold/purple colors and whatever you'd like on the table that goes along with the Mardi Gras theme.  Again, there will be a prize for the "best" table.

(3)  Bring a table game or two with you, and we'll have a fun time.  The NON-Trivia Contest final competition will also be during the social time.

We're really excited that National President Kimberly Clark will be at the conference so we'll put her in charge of judging these two "events."

Please make every effort to get members listed in the database and paid by Oct. 20.  You can others as we go along, but we want numbers to be good for the membership awards at FLDC and at the national fall conference.  We were number two in the nation at the end of the year last year so certainly want to make a good showing at the national fall conferences.  Even if you just have a few members, go ahead and get them listed so they count toward our total.

The same is true for Professional Division-Foundation members!

If your chapter attended a Kick-Off, you're on the eligibility list for "Gold Star Chapter" recognition at FLDC.  Let's set a new record for number of recipients.  Just remember to finish out with these items:

Register for FLDC by Oct. 27)

Make $35 contribution to PD-F General Fund by Oct. 27

Have 10 members listed in national database by Oct. 20

Have 5 PD-F members, including one adviser, in national database by Oct. 20

Send name, phone, mailing address, email address of chapter president and adviser(s) to State Historian (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and Communications Director (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) by Oct. 20

I know things are busy so realize the time you spend on PBL activities is very much appreciated by your students and the State Executive Council!  Send a message or call any time any of us can assist you.
