09.18.17 State Adviser Update

Advisers/Chapter Presidents --

Hopefully, every chapter is planning on have reps at a "Kick-Offs" on September 21.  The Kick-Offs are from 1:00-4:00.  There is no registration fee, but you'll note in the attachment that you are asked to let Mr. Fann know approximately how many will be attending (so we have adequate handouts and REFRESHMENTS!).

The locations are Lenoir-Rhyne University (Hickory), Central Carolina CC (Sanford), Barton College (Wilson), and Stanly CC (Albemarle).  Details on the meeting room and parking arrangements are in the attachment.

The Kick-Offs are for chapter officers/key leaders, as well as advisers.  If an adviser cannot attend, the chapter officers may still attend.

A review of the six items (including attending a Kick-Off") for the 2017 "Gold Star Chapter Award" is also included in the attachment.  Thank you for making an effort to complete these beginning-of-the-year activities.  The award recognizes chapters for getting the year off to a good start and certainly helps NCPBL have an organized and successful year.  Thank you for making this a chapter priority.

More information on fall conference will be sent, but the information on the Pin Design contest, the PD-F scholarship applications, and the NON-Trivia contest study guide are on the PBL and PD-F websites and will be emailed to advisers.  (If the NON-Trivia study guide isn't there today, it will be in the next day or two.  The PD-F officers are finishing it tonight!)  FLDC is November 3-4 at the Greensboro Wyndham Garden (same as last several years, although it was previously a Clarion Hotel).  Registration is $15 per delegate, and that includes lunch on Saturday.  An FLDC Guide will be emailed to advisers and posted online right after the Kick-Offs.

As you plan your activities, be sure to include the "Put Hunger Out of Business" project/contest that will be conducted the two weeks after FLDC.  Information is in the Chapter Guide, and we will highlight details at the Kick-Offs.

Congratulations to Isothermal CC, Durham Tech CC, and Wake Tech for being the first chapters to enter members in the national database for the 2017-18 year!  Wake Tech also leads the race for the most PD-F members with chapter affiliation as of the first of September.

I hope your class and PBL year is off to a good start.  Thank you for serving as an NCPBL chapter adviser or officer as we prove PBL is the best way possible to "Elevate Your Future!"  Send an email or call if there is anything the State Executive Council members can do to assist you.
