Asheville-Buncombe Technical CC - Fall 2015

The Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College PBL chapter has gotten off to the best start we have had in years.  We have 13 members and a full cadre of officers.  We also welcomed a new adviser, Jean Finley.

We assisted our SGA with the annual Fall Festival in September, where over 2,000 students gathered to check out information from the departments, organizations and clubs on campus, danced, enjoyed chair massages, as well as lunch. Four members and two advisers attended the Kick-off at Appalachian State University.  Eight members and three advisers are attending FLDC this year. In December, we will be sponsoring Head Start kids for A-B Tech's annual Children's Holiday Party again this year.

Our first fundraiser was a Monster Mash held on October 13 at the Mill Room in Asheville.  This masquerade ball was a collaborative effort with the Marketing capstone class at A-B Tech.  It was a lot of fun for members.

We just finished our first service project.  We have collected bottled water and paper goods for Columbia, SC.  This fulfills a huge need due to the recent flooding.  We collected 749 bottles of water, 11 gallon jugs of water, 1,614 eating utensils, 540 cups, 996 plates/bowls, and over 1,700 napkins.  These items were taken to the Columbus, NC fire department for distribution in Columbia.

We look forward to another exciting year connecting with fun, friendship, education, and lifelong experiences!
