2014 Fall Leadership Development Conference

Delegates met on October 10-11 at the Clarion Hotel in Greensboro for the 2014 Fall Leadership Development Conference.  It was the 40th Annual FLDC.  (The first fall meeting was held in 1975 on the campus of UNC-Greensboro on a Thursday afternoon.)  Special guests for the conference were Ms. Bobbie Lou Avant Brown, the first president of NCPBL in 1954 when she was a student at East Carolina University, and Mr. Beau Cobb, national PBL president from Johnson & Wales University in Rhode Island.  Friday keynote speakers were Brandon Harkey, NCPBL's 2014 National "Who's Who in PBL' inductee, and Kevin Davio, NCPBL PD-F Distinguished Service Award recipient.  The Saturday speaker was Jeremy May, former state PBL president and current PD-F Board member.  Throughout the conference, workshops on leadership, professionalism, business, and "how to do" PBL were held.  Ten chapters received "Gold Star Chapter" recognition.  A dance and karaoke was held following the Friday night session.  Gaston College won the NON-Trivia competition, and Stanly Community College was First in the Chapter Display contest.
