The Career and Membership Achievement Program (CMAP) is a comprehensive individual membership recognition program encompassing PBL projects, goals, and programs with a special emphasis on career development and preparation for the world of work. CMAP contributes to personal growth and success while recognition is given to the individual and the chapter.

There are 3 levels of individual achievement. Each level is built around the 3 words in the FBLA-PBL crest: Service, Education, and Progress. Individuals participate in integrated workplace activities tied to business, education, leadership, public relations, and service.

All entries for this award are completed online through the national web site. Individuals may complete more than one level per year and must report and log their progress in the online system of the National website www.fbla-pbl.org.  Each level builds upon the next and includes the following elements:

  • Integrated workplace and learning activities
  • Influenced by individuals' personal needs for growth and development
  • Linked to the strategic needs of each level of the association
  • Tied to and influenced by current business practices and corporate needs

No paperwork needs to be submitted to the national center. This program is completely interactive and online. When members have completed all activities, the adviser MUST submit the Completed Entry Form.  Failure of the adviser to complete this step by the receipt deadline will result in no award being given to the member(s). APPLICATION RECEIPT DEADLINE IS MARCH 1.

Director Level - Focuses on introductory community service and career research activities, and FBLA-PBL involvement at the local level.

Executive Level - Focuses on developing job interview skills, state and national FBLA-PBL involvement, public relations activities, and leadership. (Director award prerequisite)

President Level - Focuses on job interview preparation, community and campus service and total association leadership. (Director and Executive Award prerequisite)

Individuals may complete more than one level per year and must report and log their progress. Each level builds upon the next.

Through completion of this program, individuals will have created an interview portfolio that will include:

  • Career summary
  • A detailed résumé
  • Samples of work from a shadow or internship program
  • Description and evidence of an implemented business/service/leadership project
  • A worksheet of personal occupational goals, timeline, and action
  • Mock interviews with local businesses/corporations and critique sheet from the individual and/or corporation
  • A project to improve community or campus life
  • A network database of business, educational, and peer contacts
  • Personal SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) Analysis
  • Letters of recommendations from advisers, co-workers, employers, or educators
  • This puts FBLA-PBL members one step above those who have not completed this program, giving them the confidence and the experience to succeed in a highly competitive working world.
